Norwegian Greentech has been subcontracted by Eyvi to deliver its UV- and filter-based water treatment system to Artic Seafarm’s land-based salmon farming facility in North Norway.
“We are excited to see that activity level in the Norwegian land-based aquaculture market is picking up, and we are proud to be chosen by Eyvi to support their turnkey delivery to Arctic Seafarm,” says Børge Gjelseth, SVP Commercial at Norwegian Greentech.
Under the contract, Norwegian Greentech will deliver its energy efficient UV- and filter-based water treatment technology as a subcontractor to Eyvi, who has been charged with supplying a complete hybrid flow-through/re-use system for Arctic Seafarm’s land-based aquaculture facility at Nesna, North Norway.
Norwegian Greentech’s system will be utilised to filter and disinfect seawater before it enters the land-based salmon farming facility. The company will provide nine individual UV- and filter-based systems, one for each of the nine inlets that will provide the fish tanks with clean seawater.
Norwegian Greentech’s UV- and filtration solution is chemical free and highly energy efficient. Although the system is capable of treating large volumes of water, it has been designed to find the right balance between power and efficiency, thereby keeping operating expenditure and environmental footprint to a minimum.
Breakthrough award
This contract is Norwegian Greentech’s breakthrough award within land-based aquaculture. However, the technology that will be applied has been proven for many years on board approximately 800 vessels where it disinfects seawater of much stricter requirements.
“This is our breakthrough contract within large scale land-based fish farming, but our technology is already installed on board more than 30 wellboats. We are highly familiar with the Norwegian aquaculture industry’s technological and biological requirements,” adds Børge Gjelseth.
Deliveries will be made in the second half of 2025 and early in 2026.
Norwegian Greentech is a supplier of highly efficient water treatment systems and other systems for purification of water for use in the aquaculture industry and in the maritime sector. The company is a subsidiary of HAV Group ASA, which is listed on Euronext Growth in Oslo, Norway.
Arctic Seafarm’s land-based aquaculture facility is located at Helgeland, Nordland County, Norway. The concession for 15,000 tonnes MAB (Maximum Allowed Biomass) can produce up to 25,000 tons of salmon. In the first phase, the facility plans to produce approximately 10,000 tonnes of salmon (8,000 tonnes HOG).
